This is a closer view of the building. Notice that the dome is floating over the pillars.Compared to the Rotunda interior shown in other pages, you will notice that this one seems to be much smaller. This was intentional, for the building, having magical powers, was meant to look much larger when viewed from the inside.

Tip: This scene looks more complex than it really is: the effect is caused by overlapping the foreground (first pillar) with the middleground (second pillar) and with background (domed building). Notice how the shaft of light also contributes to creating an even stronger overlapping effect. I often use overlapping to create complex, rich looking environments.

Using three layers (or more) is a common technique used by traditional artists to enrich the scene and create depth.
