Little Village Far, Far Away
This image is rich in symbolism: it represents the departure from home. The spaceship represents the young person who leaves the comfort of their home town in search of brighter galaxies. All of us have left "little villages" behind at one point: be it a small town in south of France, a fisherman's village in Brazil or a familiar neighborhood in New York. In our memories, those villages will always be colorful and splendorous, for they are tinted by the memories of our youth.

This image was created just for fun, using the following software: Nichimen Nendo, 3D Studio Max 3.1, Painter 6.0, Photoshop, Cebas POS for flares, TexLayers from Mankua for mapping coordinates.

Tip: The body of the spaceship seen in this image was modeled almost entirely in Nendo, as were other elements of the image. First, a simple 8 side lathe was created in 3D Studio Max and exported to Nendo (Nendo only creates the most basic 3D geometry). Then, using the extrude capabilities of Nendo, the details were added. The model was then saved and imported into 3D Studio once again, where it received MeshSmooth, texture coordinates, materials and other details.

Cebas' POS plugin for 3D Studio Max was used for all the lighting special effects seen here. "Flares" were used to create the nebula in the background; the orange glows coming from below and the spaceship's engines. "Glow" was used for the windows. "Highlight flares" were used for the tiny lights around the spaceship and underneath bridges. "Distance blur" was used to blur out the back buildings. "Pyrocluster" was used for the pink smoke coming out of the spaceship.
