The Bag of Tricks

This image was created for fun, using 3D Studio Max 2.0 and POS Professional Optic Suite plugin from Cebas. There is no retouching in Photoshop; all the effects were rendered directly inside 3DStudio Max, including the letters with tiny surrounding lights.

Tip: This image contains almost 20 different POS (Professional Optic Suite) flare controllers. The colored smoke trails with multi-colored stars were created using 2 path-following particle systems for each object trail: one for smoke, the other for the stars. The smoke controller was created using POS' Pyrocluster, which can create multicolored smoke trails, in this case using a gradient from yellow to pink. The other controller creates randomly multi-colored stars in the particle system, which was wrapped around the smoke.

Each object also has a large pink clouded flare (clouded flares can be created by controlling the specific parameters of a flare). Each flare was put in front of each object as to blur them out, for I didn't want too much attention given to the objects. Each object also has "highlights", which is a controller that creates flares on a model, depending on their brightness.

The knives on the ground also have 'highlights', focused specifically towards their red jewels.

The letters were created by typing text in 3D Studio Max, extruding them and applying MeshSmooth, with a golden material. The tiny little stars around the text were created using the following technique: a duplicate of the spline text was converted to mesh and applied a "lattice" command: this adds small spherical elements to each vertex intersection. I then applied a highly brilliant material to the spheres, and assigned yet another POS controller to make them glow.

Besides those, there are three large flares coming out of the bag, to simulate the burst of each object poping out. There are also two large blue clouded flares in the background which blend with the blue fog manipulated in 3D Studio Max.
